Hi, I'm Chyako Hashimoto . I am an artist, potter, and teacher. I own YUNOMI Pottery Studio in the Smiley Building, Durango, CO. I make my pottery here, and at the same time, offer wheel throwing classes and monthly memberships to my students. To me, the brilliance of this studio is its small size. I have a relationship with everyone who comes through here, and it also allows me time to be an artist. |

"Before I took my first class at YUNOMI, I had never sat in front of a wheel: I had no idea how hooked I would get to the feel of clay in my hands. Now, thanks to Chyako, an inspiring mentor each step of the way, I can't imagine a life without it." - Michelle Herringer
"Through Chyako's classes, I have found a new love for the wheel and the process of throwing. Her patience and teaching have increased my love of pottery as well as my skills. The studio is a lovely place to work and enjoy some "me" time, and the classes are a great place to make new friends with similar interest." -Sarah Roelk "I began my journey with pottery 10 years ago when I took a class from Chyako at Yunomi Pottery Studio and was immediately hooked. Through Chyako's instruction and thoughtful guidance to embrace the entire process I have found a creative outlet to hopefully last a lifetime. I am now a studio member and continue to learn from Chyako. The process of making pottery is a form of therapy for me - meditative, creative and sometimes frustrating. Along this journey I have made a great friend in Chyako. If you are interested in pottery and throwing on the wheel, Yunomi Pottery Studio is a wonderful way to begin." -Beth Carroll "I love going to my weekly ceramics class - watching Chyako's demos, throwing bowls, sharing ideas with my fellow ceramicists!" -Kim Adams |
